18TH. CENTURY SATINWOOD OVAL TEA CADDY
An oval Tea Caddy veneered in Satinwood, with inlay together with a charming painted panel depicting dancing Putti flanked by swags.
Attractive painted decoration of flowers to the lid edge, and a string of pearls painted around a wood inlay panel on the top.

English c.1790.

Some old repairs but left mainly "as bought" with a simple clean and wax polish...

Working lock with key. Remnants of original 'lead' lining.

The lid doesn't fit tight to the main body as per photos.

'IRISH' 'TUMBLING BLOCK' BOX
An exceptional box....five sides covered in multi-wood 'tumbling block' parquetry.

Opening, reveals pen trays and two lidded compartments. A fabric lined tray is lifted to find nine bone handled drawers and further parquetry detail.
The front pen tray can be lifted out, with its false 'front' of drawers attached, to allow access to two further concealed drawers, left and right.
The mirror in the lid can be lower to allow access to another storage compartment.

The box has a connection to Irish Home Rule with the name "Parnell" and an Irish Harp picked out in pins in the left hand corner. C S Parnell was an Irish politician in the late 19th Century.
The initials in the right corner presumably belong to the owner of the box, and a supporter.

It measures 16 by 8 inches and 5 inches high

ROSEWOOD AND BRASS TEA CADDY
An early 19th Century (c.1820) Rosewood Tea Caddy of sarcophagus shape, with brass, Boulle-work type inlay of the best quality.

Not only are the front and the outside of the lid decorated in brass, but the inside of the lid has a panel; the two inner canisters also have brass letters to their lids indicating Green and Black tea.

There is a glass mixing bowl and the lock is working with a key supplied.

This delightful writing slope has an excellent red leather original writing surface. There are 2 ink wells, a secret drawer and a drawer in the base. Unusually, the writing surface can be detached from the main and used independantly.
